Fulni-ô Immersion

February 14th to 20th, 2026

Join us on a profound journey of spiritual connection in an immersive experience with the sacred wisdom of the Fulni-ô indigenous tradition

This is an opportunity to go beyond, accessing the realm of dreams through the sacred medicine of Jurema, as a path toward inner wisdom.

A unique chance to learn from a living tradition, find meaning, slow down, and tune in to what is essential and true in your heart.

The Sacred Jurema

Jurema is a revered sacred plant and traditional medicine of the Fulni-ô people, celebrated for its profound ability to act on multiple levels of our being.

It serves as a spiritual bridge, allowing access to the dream realm to seek guidance, wisdom, and clarity.

By connecting with this sacred medicine, you can expand your consciousness and receive valuable guidance for your spiritual journey.

Here’s what awaits you:

Experience the Fulni-ô culture up close as it comes alive through rituals, songs, and sacred medicines that awaken the body and soul.

  • Smudging, plants and clay Baths: Through the purifying power of plants and earth, we’ll share special moments by the waterfall, preparing your body and spirit for the journey ahead.
  • Jurema Ritual: A deep dive into the sacred medicine of Jurema, used by the Fulni-ô people to access ancestral and spiritual wisdom.
  • Chants and Dances around the bonfire: The energy of the fire becomes a gathering point to celebrate life with songs and dances that warm both body and soul.
  • Toré: Participate in this ritualistic dance that strengthens the unity and resilience of the Fulni-ô people—a powerful cultural and spiritual manifestation that honors ancestors and nature.
  • Temazcal, Xanduca Circle, and Hapeh Circle: Rituals of prayer and spiritual connection.
  • Body Painting: We will honor the ancestral tradition by painting our bodies with jenipapo, bringing protection and strength.
  • Sharing Circles and Dream Study Circles: Dreams play an important role, establishing a deep connection with our unconscious mind. We’ll have moments to exchange knowledge where you’ll hear the stories, legends, and philosophy of this tradition, understanding their profound relationship with nature and the universe.
  • Connection with Nature: The immersion takes place in a lush Atlantic Forest environment, offering a chance to reconnect with the earth, water, and all sacred elements.

Toré is more than just a dance; it is a dance-ritual — a cultural, social, and spiritual expression that strengthens the identity of the people and their connection to the sacred.

The Toré is performed during celebrations, for healing, as an expression of gratitude, and to reinforce community bonds. The melody and rhythm of its chants tell stories, invoke the spirits of nature, and transmit ancestral knowledge. Its represents:

Spiritual Connection: A link to the power of nature, of spirit, and of sacred medicines like Jurema.

Cultural Resilience: It is a way of keeping tradition and identity alive in the face of modern challenges. Toré stands as a symbol of resilience and unity.

Purification: The dance and chants hold a purifying power. The movement and energy of the ritual are believed to cleanse the body and spirit.

Community: It strengthens the bonds and solidarity wit

FAQ

I’ve never been to Brazil. Why should I choose Bahia for a wellness retreat?
6
7

Bahia is the heart and soul of Brazil. It has a magical energy, known for its vibrant Afro-Brazilian culture, stunning natural beauty, and relaxed pace of life. Our location on the Cacao Coast is nestled within the Atlantic Forest, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth, offering a uniquely powerful environment for healing, reconnection, and spiritual exploration that you won't find anywhere else.

Who is this retreat for? Do I need prior experience?
6
7

This retreat is for anyone—regardless of age, background, or experience level—who feels a call to learn from plant medicine and Fulnio tradition, slow down, connect with nature, and explore their inner world. No prior experience with plant medicine, meditation, or any of our other practices is necessary. We welcome beginners and experienced practitioners alike. All you need is an open heart and a curious mind.

What exactly does the “all-inclusive retreat” price cover?
6
7

The retreat price is designed to be truly all-inclusive once you arrive. It covers your complete 7-day immersion program, including all 10+ workshops and activities, all materials needed, three delicious, meals per day, 2 day tour to the beach, and, crucially, your round-trip ground transportation from the Ilhéus (IOS) airport to our retreat center, Oca Yary.

Is accommodation included in the main retreat price?
6
7

To give you maximum flexibility, accommodation is priced separately from the retreat. We offer a variety of options on our property to suit different preferences and budgets, from private chalets for comfort and solitude to shared spaces like the Oca and Casa Natureza for a more communal experience, and even camping spots for those who want to be closest to nature. Each option has a different value, which you can see when booking your spot.

I have dietary restrictions (gluten-free, allergies, etc.). Can you accommodate them?
6
7

Absolutely. Our kitchen prepares fresh, locally-sourced and healthy meals daily. We can easily cater to most dietary restrictions, including gluten-free, vegan, and specific allergies. Please just make sure to inform our team of your specific needs when you register so we can be fully prepared for your arrival.

Which airport should I fly into, and how do I get to the retreat?
6
7

The best and closest airport is Ilhéus (IOS) - Jorge Amado Airport. We strongly recommend flying here. Your included airport transfer will be arranged to and from this airport. While Salvador (SSA) is a larger international airport, it is a 5-6 hour drive away. If you fly into Salvador, you would need to arrange your own separate transportation to Ilhéus (via a short domestic flight or a bus) to meet our shuttle.

What should I pack for the retreat?
6
7

We recommend packing lightweight, comfortable clothing. Essentials include:

  • Comfortable clothes (leggings, shorts, t-shirts).
  • Swimwear for the waterfall and beach.
  • Comfortable walking shoes or hiking sandals for trails.
  • A light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings.
  • Natural insect repellent and sunscreen.
  • A reusable water bottle, a journal, and any personal items.

What are the safety considerations for traveling to this area?
6
7

We understand this is an important question for international travelers. Oca Yary is a safe, secluded sanctuary located away from large urban centers. All of our organized travel, including the airport transfer and day trips, is managed by our trusted team. You will be in a protected and caring environment from the moment we pick you up until we drop you off, allowing you to relax and immerse yourself fully in the experience.

How do I book my spot and what are the payment options?
6
7

You can book your spot directly through the registration buttons on our website. Our tiered pricing system rewards those who book early. Payments can typically be made via international credit card or other online payment systems. If you have any questions about payment plans or alternative methods, please don't hesitate to contact our team directly.
